In the year in which the Center for Advanced National Studies-Graduate School will celebrate 75 years of institutional life, the Journal of Science and Research in Defense presents the first edition of the sixth volume promoting the same purpose of its appearance: to deepen research on issues related to national security.

National security has various aspects and its primary purpose will always be to protect the fulfillment of national objectives that allow for higher levels of well-being for the population. However, the poor understanding of its systemic management makes it difficult, and the mistaken paradigm that it is the exclusive responsibility of the Armed Forces still persists.

They are, of course, important, because they guarantee the very life of the nation: independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity; however, other problems hinder the development plan outlined; hence the importance of a greater commitment from society to overcome the indolent attitude that for years has allowed the generation of various crises. This edition, as is the objective of this journal, presents articles that will facilitate our reflection on state issues.
